{"id":69,"date":"2019-08-28T21:50:30","date_gmt":"2019-08-28T11:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dtrecumbents.com.au\/DTRecumbents\/Blog\/?p=69"},"modified":"2025-03-14T13:44:19","modified_gmt":"2025-03-14T03:44:19","slug":"welcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dtrecumbents.com.au\/DTRecumbents\/Blog\/welcome\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to our blog!<\/p>\n<p>In this we hope to encourage some discussion, thoughts, provide a little technical information, and of course let you know what we are doing.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_70\" style=\"width: 163px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-70\" class=\" wp-image-70\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.dtrecumbents.com.au\/DTRecumbents\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/RoughStartBike.jpg?resize=153%2C119\" alt=\"\" width=\"153\" height=\"119\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-70\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rough &amp; Ready!!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Our (my?) journey into recumbents started 10 years ago &#8211; although it really began 25 years ago when I saw an advertisement for a Greenspeed trike &#8211; but that seed lay dormant until I accepted that upright bikes were getting uncomfortable.&nbsp; The wonders of the internet opened my eyes to the various recumbent types, but being unable to find one locally to try I cut metal and created a bike.&nbsp; Rough and ready, but hey, it worked.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_73\" style=\"width: 204px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73\" class=\" wp-image-73\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.dtrecumbents.com.au\/DTRecumbents\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/PerformerRide.jpg?resize=194%2C106\" alt=\"Riding Performer\" width=\"194\" height=\"106\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-73\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Performer High Racer<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A purchase of a Performer bike followed, and the relegation of the upright bike to the back shed completed the transition to a recumbent cyclist.&nbsp; Cycle commuting was the next progression, together with the inevitable purchase of another \u2018bent.<\/p>\n<p>A change in work circumstance and DT Recumbents was born.&nbsp; Dragging my better half along with me, we soon had a selection of trikes and bikes for test rides, a website, and all manner of interesting people calling in to try this alternative way of cycling.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll be writing about our recumbent experiences, as riders, fixers, sellers and probably spectators, with thoughts on the bikes and technology that cross our path.&nbsp; With luck someone will find it interesting and useful.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_71\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71\" class=\"size-full wp-image-71\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.dtrecumbents.com.au\/DTRecumbents\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/RoughStartRide.jpg?resize=200%2C146\" alt=\"First ride of rough bike\" width=\"200\" height=\"146\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-71\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The start&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_72\" style=\"width: 210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72\" class=\"size-full wp-image-72\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.dtrecumbents.com.au\/DTRecumbents\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/M5Ride.jpg?resize=200%2C150\" alt=\"James M5\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\"><p id=\"caption-attachment-72\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My current wheels<br \/>M5 Carbon High Racer.<\/p><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to our blog!
